Puffing Billy Running Festival
The Puffing Billy Running Festival from 12 to 13 September 2026 includes an iconic trail race against two mighty steam trains from Belgrave to Emerald Lake Park, Victoria. Sunday's challenging 13.5km ‘Classic’ races the trains through the rolling hills of the Dandenong Ranges as participants wind their way through Selby, Menzies Creek and Emerald before meeting Puffing Billy at the Lakeside finish line. The festival weekend also includes a 1.2km Kids' Dash and 5km Family Fun Run on Saturday. Saturday events race against a train for a fun family day in Emerald Lake Park. Proceeds from the Puffing Billy Running Festival will be donated to heritage railway projects, such as the restoration of Puffing Billy Railway’s Belgrave Station Signal Box.
Getting there
Saturday events are based at Emerald Lake Park. Sunday event starts in Belgrave and finishes at Emerald Lake Park.
