Winter Solstice Fun Run
The Portland Winter Solstice Fun Run on 21 June 2026 includes 4 distances; 1 mile, 9km, 15km and 25km plus a 1km Kids' Dash. The 9km course showcases the best of the inner Portland running, including the Fawthrop Lagoon and Foreshore. The Winter Solstice Classic 15km course runs from Cape Nelson Lighthouse to town via Scenic & Cape Nelson Roads. The Lighthouse to Lighthouse 25km course has the same start and finish as the 15km and runs along the sweet trails of the Great South West Walk - This is a 'no cup event', BYO water bottle/cup. The event also includes the Irish Mad Mile race that dashes through the heart of Portland. Choose to run or walk the events and enjoy a carnival finish line with food, music, and a free 1km Kid's Dash. Please note: courses are not suitable for prams or dogs. This event is organised by the Portland Runners Club.
Getting there
The 15km & 25km start at Cape Nelson Lighthouse and finish at Ploughed Field. The 9km starts and finishes at Ploughed Field.
