Aussie Alpine Backyard Ultra

The Aussie Alpine Backyarder returns on 31 December 2026 to the stunning High Country of Falls Creek, Victoria. Celebrate New Year’s Eve with this endurance event that challenges runners to complete a 6.71km loop every hour, on the hour, at altitude - continuing until only one runner remains. The rugged course is widely regarded as the toughest Backyard Ultra in Australia. It delivers true alpine conditions on stunning scenic trails, with around 210m of elevation gain each lap. A steady climb takes you to the top of the resort before dropping into a fast, flowing descent. The lap finishes on an incredible trail that wraps around the event village - the perfect place to soak up the cheers and encouragement as you come home to the finish line.
